Biography

Background

Hiromitsu Hattori received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. from the Nagoya Institute of Technology in 1999, 2001, and 2004, respectively. After finishing Ph.D, he was a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for three years. From 2004 to 2005, he was a honorary research assistant at Computer Science Dept., University of Liverpool. In 2006, he was a visiting scholar at Centre for Collective Intelligence, Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 2007 to 2014, he was an assistant professor at Kyoto University. After Kyoto-era of his life, from 2014 to 2020, he was an associate professor at Ritsumeikan University. Then, from 2020, he has been a full professor at there.

He has consistently worked on multiagent systems, and its applications. Complex negotiation protocols, agentmediated electronic commerce, multiagent simulation, and human behavior modeling are primary research topics. He is a member of JSAI (Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence), IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan), IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), and Liverpool Football Club Supporters Club (^_^).

    I have not played for 15 years, though I had played tennis for ten years.

    When I lived in Liverpool, I watched several massive matches at Anfield and eventually LFC won European Cup with dramatic come-back, sparked by Steven Gerrard‘s goal and his passionate performance. I was tremendously impressed and decided to support LFC forever.
  • StarTrek

    StarTrek is one of the most famous Sci-Fi in the world. Especially, I like series of TNG (The Next Generation) and Voyager. Captain Jean-Luc Picard(played by Patric Stewart, also known as Prof. Xavier in the X-Men) is my idol.
  • Saxophone
    I am still a novice. I want to get enough practice time.
